8.6 Partnerships for Violence Reduction

Boston’s nationally recognized success in violence reduction is grounded in an approach built on partnerships.  These include partnerships between law enforcement officials, community based organizations, and private sector partners, including businesses and universities that work to develop better crime prevention and reduction strategies.

In addition, the Boston Police Department (BPD) provides violence prevention grants to community organizations. These grants support educational programs for youth and adults, neighborhood clean-ups and beautification, crime watches, and athletic as well as work-related programs directed specifically at youth.
